Can't Pay Your Verizon Bill?

For eligible accounts, Verizon offers limited hardship support — options may include 1–2 scheduled payments, 1–2 promises to pay, or a combination, depending on eligibility. Details and how to request it are on Verizon's support site.

If the goal is to pay the bill in full now and split the cost into smaller repayments, Deferit can pay an eligible Verizon bill on your behalf and let you repay it in 4 smaller installments.

Common Questions About Verizon

Does Verizon charge a late fee?

Yes. Verizon Wireless charges a late fee of up to 5% of the unpaid balance or $10, whichever is greater, as permitted by law, when the past-due balance exceeds $10. Verizon Fios and residential accounts are charged up to 5% per month or flat $10, whichever is greater, as permitted by law.

What happens if I miss a Verizon payment?

For wireless accounts, a late fee is added when the past-due balance exceeds $10. Verizon may suspend service if the balance remains unpaid; once suspended, restoring wireless service costs $20 per line. A $10 agent assistance fee applies when a rep arranges payment by phone or chat. Fios accounts follow the Fios customer agreement, which also allows up to a 5% late fee.

How do I pay my Verizon bill online?

Pay through verizon.com/pay or the My Verizon app. Use a linked bank account or Verizon Visa card with Auto Pay and paper-free billing to unlock up to $10/month per-line savings on eligible plans. Cards (Visa, Mastercard, Discover, American Express) are also accepted. From a Verizon mobile device you can also dial #PMT (#768) to pay through the IVR.

Can I split my Verizon bill into 4 installments?

Verizon doesn't offer a true 4-installment split — its Promise to Pay program may allow 1–2 scheduled payments, 1–2 promises to pay, or a combination, depending on eligibility. For an actual 4-installment split, Deferit can pay your Verizon bill in full now and let you repay across 4 bi-weekly installments — eligibility check before you commit.

How do I dispute a charge on my Verizon bill?

For Fios billing disputes, contact 1-800-837-4966 within 30 days of the bill date and pay the undisputed portion to keep service active while the dispute is reviewed. For wireless billing disputes, contact 1-800-922-0204; preserving arbitration or small-claims rights may require written notice or Verizon's Notice of Dispute form. Rules and deadlines differ by service type — refer to your specific customer agreement.

How do I contact Verizon account and billing support?

Wireless account and billing: 1-800-922-0204 (Mon–Sat 8a–7p, Sun 8a–5p; timezone varies by location). Fios / home account and billing: 1-800-837-4966 (Mon–Fri 8a–7p ET, Sat 8a–5p ET, closed Sunday). Online: verizon.com/support/contact-us (availability varies by service and issue). From a Verizon mobile device, dial *611. Note: technical support hours may differ.

Where can I find my Verizon account number?

For mobile accounts, your account number appears at the top of your monthly paper bill and under Profile in the My Verizon app. For Fios and home accounts, it appears in the My Verizon dashboard. Your account number is separate from your mobile phone number.

Customer Service Tips for Verizon Customers

Have these ready before you call. Account number, billing ZIP, mobile number or service address, last bill amount, and preferred payment method. For mobile support call 1-800-922-0204 or dial *611 from a Verizon phone.

How to read overage charges on a Verizon bill. Overages appear under "Plan charges" with a per-line breakdown. Check the "Data this cycle" graph in My Verizon; if any line crossed its plan limit, that's the trigger. For eligible shared, legacy, or prepaid plans, a data boost can be added before the cycle closes — many current unlimited plans reduce speed instead of charging overages.

How to lower your bill. Compare the latest statement against plan charges, device payments, taxes/fees, protection plans, and add-ons. Cancel unused add-ons (Disney+, Apple Music, Cloud, +Play subscriptions) through the My Verizon app or verizon.com. If the goal is a one-time payment shortfall rather than a permanent reduction, Deferit's Pay-in-4 splits the bill across 4 bi-weekly installments instead.
